Updates and Changes Coming To Fortnite 2018

Epic Games has recently published a blog post in which they discuss some of the updates and changes that they have planned for the extremely popular game, Fortnite. Some of those updates and changes are pretty big. A lot of the changes you will notice are specifically aimed at preparing the game for the live events that are coming up in the near future. There is a rush to raise skill levels in the competitive play modes, and we will only see more of that, thanks to more than $100 million worth of prize money that will be available during next year’s tournaments.

The game finally gets a playground mode. While it is currently a limited time event, you should still have plenty of time to have a little fun while messing around the Battle Royale map with friend and other players. Many players have repeatedly asked for this feature to be added, and it is a breath of fresh air to see it finally arrive.

As described, the playground mode allows you to, “Battle and build to your heart’s content with an extended period of time to roam around the map as well as increased resource generation. All the treasure chests and ammo crates will be spawned, try droppin’ in different spots and scope out the loot. Friendly fire is on so you can scrimmage with your squad (up to 4 friends per match), but fear not you’ll respawn immediately.”

One of the things that many players are probably most thankful for is the fact that the game highlights the progress of your challenges, via popups, available in version 4.3. It might seem like just a small change, but the fact is that the challenges require that you collect a particular amount of items, or do certain amounts of damage with one specific weapon. It can be hard to keep track of all of this and still maintain survival, as well as helping your team, all at the same time. Having the visual aid during challenges is a welcomed help.

There will also be improved performance from the server. Epic Games has been tracking issues with hitches and freezing and looks to make that a thing of the past in the near future. Over time, they say, the performance will be improved in future updates, as they look to remove more of the issues causing these glitches.
